well it affects to much can you force yum to update
it can install a new kernel for all i care, it will make no difference

Kinda-sorta. glx works except for when I want to jump back to command-line using ctrl + alt + backspace. The xserver fails to shut down and it just leaves me with a black screen.
so if I want to get command line, I have to reboot the system. VERY counterintuitive.

nvidia driver halfway works. I'm using it now. nvidia driver version is kmod-nvidia-100.14.09-1.2.6.20_1.2952.fc6 and accompanying xorg-x11-drv-nvidia

seems like the radeon driver is better in some aspects than fglrx

Suppose I have a name resolving problem and I want all browser traffic looking for pages from bob.com and something.bob.com (2 different IP's) to be directly pointed to their IP's, which I know, how can I stop fedora using the domain names and force it to use direct dedicated ip hosting addresses?

try a service network restart instead

host.conf and nsswitch.conf both tell your computer how to resolve name queries

i would guess that you are missing some kernel compile pre-requisites

So peeps! I just upgraded to fedora 7 and the fedora 7 kernel can't find the root volume. I had to start up with an fc6 kernel.

ferrum, there is my point exactly. No offence to banyan, but see he didn't know that the keyboard could be setup. Look at windows, and the hardware manufactures. They setup the systems with the keyboards configured with sound, email, etc. If there was a remote database this could really benefit fedora. For that matter everyother linux distro as well.

hey guys, i just set up FC6 on my server and i'm having some probs with MD RAID
i have four 400GB SATA II disks on a Promise SATA300 TX4 PCI card
using them all as one big RAID 6 partition
i keep getting soft lockups on second CPU

Very annoying problem. firefox is starting up with a window size that is almost maximized. It's so large, I can't get a 'grabber' to allow resizing. It is not obeying the -geometry X window application parameter. I can't find any size parameters in about::config. I don't see a .firefox file in my home directory. Where do I control this ?

linux 64bit is far better than win 64bit ... the usual driver problem you might face is only the ATI/NVidia card proprietary drivers .. coz the drivers are not opensource .. my suggestion .. just go for the x86_64 iso .. theres plenty of ppl here using it full time without problems ...
