hi world

I'm getting SVN_WRITE in TracPerm, even on a GET request.

I'm not really sure if you config makes sense.
[to me at least it does not, right now..]

which part? it uses a python module as an AuthenHandler.

Well apart from that.
If I get this right, you require an user, regardless of whether or not they are reading or writing.

yes

But you want to set a special variable [TracPerm] to SVN_(WRITE|READ), depending on whether they are reading or writing..

yes

it looks right to me.. but I would suggest something like this:
http://pastebin.ca/568208 [if you're already going for this mess, then go for it all the way ;]

jMCg, thanks, I think that did the trick.
I wondered if I should be doing something like that.
I was following another example, so I wasn't thinking too hard about it.

Apache/2.2.3 (Debian) PHP/4.4.4-9 server hosting at xxxxxxx.dyndns.org Port 80
how i can change the (Debian) value for other ?

you can't.

no ?

it's compiled in.

hum
and you know what part of the code is needed to change for that ?

It defaults to (Unix) on *nix, but can be set at compile time.

I bet you could get your hex editor out and change it

hehe, well, i think to its more easy to rebuild the package with that changed

Something like that?

ok so that is the source

yeah i was just wondering what file is edited when i setup the shares and such

I have some questions about the Apache License... what do they consider a derivative work. And does the license allow commercial usage when the source would be considered hosting company secret?

i have only made stuff with geocities and stuff like to so yeah i'm a little new

do i put html hosting in the httpd?

You might mean Options Indexes, or perhaps DirectoryIndex, or maybe mod_autoindex

i'm trying to decrease the amount of stuff i log as i'm having performance issues

ubuntu-rocks: loglevel crit means you only log critical Errors [which is useless, because apache quits on critical erros, IIRC]

i just thought that there would be one file i need to start editing

ubuntu-rocks: access log != error log

See step one. For the clue-impaired, that's ERROR log, not ACCESS log

that depends on your configuration.

i like to know all open tcp socks though in any state

i think i need to be beat in the head with the hammer of apache to get this

is there a way i can change the index of to "sea legs"

eh?

brb..
how hard is it to change the port?
i could have a lot faster connection if i didn't have to use 80 or 80808

Listen

Listen tells apache what IP address and port to listen to. See http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/mpm_common.html#listen or see binding.

i have 2 isp's and one blocks 80

binding

binding is http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/bind.html or http://httpd.apache.org/docs/bind.html

change port number in Listen, NameVirtualhost and Virtualhost lines
very easy

then port forward right?

indexheader
mod_autoindex

mod_autoindex is http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mod_autoindex.html or http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_autoindex.html

well, then your apache listens to e.g. http://site:6666/
hope your users know and understand

isn't there just 2 lines in the httpd i have to chage from 80 to what ever

headername

headername is http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mod_autoindex.html#headername or http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_autoindex.html#headername

^ with that you can change the title

does apache2.2 work with vista as well?

i told it to use 8080 from the install
i'm not stopping
i'm trying to setup apache on another computer
http://localhost\
wont load
on vista
i said use 8080
is that why?

yeah, try http://localhost:8080/

start apache in console?

apachectl

apachectl is http://httpd.apache.org/docs/programs/apachectl.html or just a shell script. It can be hacked to set things like library paths, umasks, etc

ok it works now

is it possible for apache to set a php session variable given a particular request? or does it have to be done in the php?

##php

yes, I know, but it's as much an apache issue as a php one

so no, apache does not set php variables.
it's not an apache issue, really

##php != "no".

But it can set enviroment variables you can use in PHP.

yeah I know
but they can't be set on a particular request, but on loading the apache server instead
that's no good in this instance.

it's the best you can do with php
$_SESSION("foobar") = $_ENV("foobar");
I would venture.

like I said, it has to be done on particular requests, each one of which has a different var.

then I don't think it's possible.
un;ess you find a major hack

I'm trying to avoid creating additional php files just to set the session var and redirect and wanted to see if apache could do it itself. clearly not

thanks jMCg i have a look

Hi, how can I make it so that my .htaccess propegates to all subdirectories?

what, exactly, are you trying to do?

Thanks fajita and jMCg I will look into it

it should be default unless it gets overridden further down the line on in the apache config

I'm trying to make it so that if you try to access the DirectoryIndex in any directory it will show a default webpage
I think that's what's happening, but I don't have access to the apache config.
actually it's just not working in the cgi-bin directories
I don't want the cgi-bin to be showing directory listings though :/

so... its working then?

It's working, but not in the cgi-bin directory.

is the cgi-bin an actual subdir of your docroot or is it a scriptalias?

I believe it is an actual subdirectory.

you should check and be sure

Well I created the folder myself and it looks like a subdirectory in my VPN connection.. There just seems to be something overriding it for the cgi-bin directory.
I tried putting the same .htaccess in the cgi-bin directory and now it works, but now the .htaccess is in two places

hey guys

I guess you want the rest of us to ignore you then, Trojaneyez

Anyone ever run into the error "ERROR at dump.c:188: Connection refused" when doing /etc/init.d/httpd fullstatus

do you have server-status setup?

Status is stopped the Service won't turn on, it's on a virtual machine

what do you mean by that? apache wont start with mod_status loaded or wont start when you try to configure the location /server-status?

sorry

You will be!!

when trying to start the service thorugh /etc/init.d/httpd start

step one?

whatever the problem, step one is to look in the error log (and any other logs that may apply, such as suexec, mod_rewrite, or mod_security).

how can I rewrite requests to https://host/foo to https://host/bar ?

just that directory? use redirect
redirect?

redirect is http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mod_alias.html#redirect or http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_alias.html#redirect or see 'Redirect Context'

how do i type a space in .htaccess for rewrite mod? e.g. ^folder name/

""

thanks

might not work though, the space could already be converted at that point and it may never match though
try it and let us know

should i try %20 ?

try it both ways

^folder\ name
Just try everything.

but i don't want to redirect, i want to rewrite, redirect changes the user's url, doesn't it?

yes it does

thanks barefoot
i will try that

i setup apache with user auth... and when i add the last line for require ... if i use require valid-user it works but i want to use groups and when i put require group goupname it just doesnt let me sign in anymore? anybody know why?

I could guess...
Your user is not in the group
You dont' specify a AuthGroupFile or whatever required to authorize...
Or... well... a number of reasons.. really...

ok i got that working but now my next problem is something wierd
it seems that with IE i do have to constantly login which i want... but with firefox i login once and now everytime i hit the page it just lets me right in

the firefox behaviour is expected.

are you closing IE?

yeah i close IE
and when i close Firefox
it does the same thing
when i close firefox it just still lets me right back in
but when i dont close IE it lets me right back in

the first time, did firefox offer to remember the password for you?

no
or
fucker i didnt even look
god dammit
lol
ok so no
now after firefox is closed for about 5 minutes
then i have to re-login

.
how do I write a RewriteRule to do nothing? i.e. if something is /path, dont do any rewriting?

RewriteCond

RewriteCond is http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/mod/mod_rewrite.html#rewritecond

[L]

[L] is for last

also look at the - replacement

yeah - i see that --- but I still can't quite get it working --- I tried RewriteCond %{DOCUMENT_ROOT}/path -d
RewriteRult ^.*$ [L]
and it messed up my entire site

RewriteRule ^ -

yango, no [L] ?

yes, l too
RewriteRule ^ - [L]
the - says do nothing

i doesn't seem to be working

that seems to help --- however, now it does not look for /path/index.php when I do /path

i get a 404

what are you trying to do?

I am trying to mix a rails application and a php application --- i'm doing standard proxying to a rails cluster --- but if I see /phpfiles --- I want it to process in apache as usual
your statement above worked, except it ignores the DirectoryIndex directive (looking for index.php/etc)

hi guys can some one tell me how to keep rails out of a directory using the notrails command in the .htaccess file

step one?

whatever the problem, step one is to look in the error log (and any other logs that may apply, such as suexec, mod_rewrite, or mod_security).

^^

remove the L, maybe?

nope, by removing [L], it continues on -- and eventually tries to forward it to the rails cluster

[PT]?

[PT] is pass through to next handler

although what you say is weird

any luck with solr and tomcat?

guys can some one tell me what this does RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/javascript.*

the following rewrite rule will only be executed if the requested URL starts with /javascript

that just matches something, the rule will do the work

it's hard to see a case where that would be useful....
the rule itself could just match the prefix
unless there were another rewritecond after it

the .* part is also useless
because conds do partial matches

indeed

i think thats what i need so, how do i make that rule work now then guys sorry for been thick i am new to this

what rule, you've only shown a cond

i want to basically keep ruby on rails out of a certain directory ie javascript, the info shown in the help file is this RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/php.*
RewriteRule .* - [L]

i've setup apache2.conf to rotatelog my logs file, i've restarted apache but the access.log and error.log continue to grow. the error.log doesn't indicate any problems about my syntax. can i somehow force apache to create a new log or do i just delete the current access.log?

ok then, do that, maybe replacing the first .* for nothing and the second .* for ^
are you not Lincoln6Echo ?¿

Hello,

you both have the same problem

although RewriteRule ^/php - [L] should do exactly the same thing, no?
without the rewritecond

no, he's not

I have a cgi script that can take anywhere from a few seconds to 2 minutes to run. The first output, however, is available immediately. Apache buffers the entire script before it sends anything to the browser.
According to the changelog for 1.3 it should not be doing this.

no sorry

yeah, i'd think so

I decided to take a look at the code, and I noticed the cgi module calls ap_send_fb which sets stdin to use non buffer reads, but it does not appear to set it to use unbuffer writes when calling ap_bwrite
is this a bug?
or am I reading the code incorrectly?

so i all i need is RewriteRule ^/php - [L] nothing else

Lincoln6Echo: you can use what rici said, and also enable the RewriteLog to gather information in case it doesn't work
RewriteLog

RewriteLog is http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mod_rewrite.html#rewritelog http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_rewrite.html#rewritelog. Use this logging to help design and track rewrite; see also rewriteloglevel; and cannot be used from .htaccess

The 1.3 changelog mentions it should flush the buffer when "CGI pauses or stops output"
my script has several poll calls throughout that would pause the program and in theory should cause what has currently been sent to stdin to be sent

What are the recommended initial and max. size for the memory pool
the thread stack size also

s/script/program
I've also verified the program itself is not buffering by running the script from the console as well as calling it from an instance of lighttpd

i am totally lost but i ll try it he he

hello, trying to get authnz_ldap to work. the ldap server itself is fine since we authenticate with it in our network. a href="http://paste.debian.net/30599"http://paste.debian.net/30599/a is what i get for the to configs posted there, could someone have a look at it i just don't get what's wrong...

ya I intend to be here for a while I realize my question may be advanced and may not get an answer tho :/
cgi isn't as popular as it once was
at least beyonh php-cgi

valid-user

I suppose an unbuffered ap_bwrite may not be necessary if it is using unbuffer ap_bread's
still doesn't explain why nothing is sent until the cgi app finishes execution

doesn't make a difference
in fact i changed it from valid-user to that since i saw it somewhere on the web

"valid-user" is correct
"somewhere on the web" is probably random

yes, but it doesn't help
true, but i don't see any misconfiguration there. and "valid user" as well as "valid-user" has the same results

I think something else is going on in your case... it's been ages since I last used 1.3 though, but it seems to me that apache didn't buffer everything

Question, apxs is set to go to /usr/local/bin/httpd and I need it set to what I believe is /usr/local/bin/httpsd. How can I do that?

have you tried 2.2?

looking again

I can't, right now the server it is running in is running cPanel stable
I'm open to the possibility my app might be causing it
I just do not know how

i'm not using ssl to connect to the ldap host, could that be the problem?

on ya, and in case you do not know cPanel 10 only supports apache 1.3

is your ldap server running on ldaps?

I mean as a means of debugging. if the exact same configuration and app works in 2.2 then it's a bug in 1.3

hmm

i presume that the authldapurl directive you pasted is not the actual one you're useing

I can try a local installation

ahh require ldap-user

Question, apxs is set to go to /usr/local/bin/httpd and I need it set to what I believe is /usr/local/bin/httpsd. How can I do that?

i already had it that way, hyjak.

suffering with buffering?

require ldap-user is to require specific ldap users

google that, if you're perling ^

fajita, how can I change it though, cause mine is wrong.

OK, hyjak.

require valid-user requires only that the user be valid

i know but i won't work on authnz_ldap it seems. at least not the way i expected it.

you've checked to make sure the ldap lookup works?

fyi http://paste.debian.net/30601 posted the info at the top. seems that's a basic change from apache2

yes, it did change. the "authzldapauthoritative off" is important

it's C, and it's not glibc doing the buffering.. at least it doesn't when run from the console or with lighttpd, tho I suppose it might be possible the way in which apache executes the apps might be causing libc to behave differently
still, it's unlike libc to buffer 20k

you time travelled from 1994?

does mod_rewrite allow redirecting to another domain with the REQUEST_URI attached to the end of it?

C is my native tongue

Anyone have any thoughts on my issue?

oh, so you time travelled from 1973 instead

older and wiser

you shouldn't need the userfile stuff
you do need to spell valid-user correctly

Can anyone help me in figuring this out. I am trying to get the mod_auth_mysql module installed and when i use apxs, its set to the wrong directory.

and you should verify that the ldap lookup would work exactly as it's presented
i.e. that the search on (&(uid=what was typed in)(objectclass=*)) returns exactly one entry
and that you can then authenticate to the ldap server with the returned dn and supplied password
if it's really on localhost, use the openldap command line tools to verify

oh yes, finally groups are working too
stop assuming things...

?

that valid-user never ever changes for example

any ideas on this guys? i've setup apache2.conf to rotatelog my logs file, i've restarted apache but the access.log and error.log continue to grow. the error.log doesn't indicate any problems about my syntax. can i somehow force apache to create a new log or do i just delete the current access.log?

ubuntu-rocks: logrotate is usually used to rotate logs - I didn't know Apache had that facility natively

rotatelogs

rotatelogs is http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/programs/rotatelogs.html or http://httpd.apache.org/docs/programs/rotatelogs.html or http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/programs/rotatelogs.html

Roobarb-Work: that one comes bundled
logrotate

logrotate is supercool or see rotatelogs

is better

I want to apply a RewriteRule only if the domain matches with something.
I used RewriteCond %{SERVER_NAME} ^msl37.org$ [NC], but it didn't work.
Any suggestion?

HTTP_HOST instead of SERVER_NAME

Let's see.
That's it.
Thank you.
And another thing...
I want to redirect the traffic all the time, even if the requested file is /.
I use the rule RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.msl37.org/$1 [L,R] , but doesn't redirect for "/" requests.
I I change ^(.*)$ for * it simply makes error 500.

I have the following rewrite rule "RewriteRule !\.(gif|jpe?g|png|css|js)$ controller.php [L]" and im trying to make it ignore all requests made to /phpmyadmin/ using a RewriteCond but its not working

why not use a Redirect inside a proper vhost?
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !/phpmyadmin
* is invalid

you should use a rewritecond to check for the file names, then do whatever with rewriterule

thansk a lot

yango, I used to use Redirect 301 / http://www.msl37.org/
yango, and will enable it now, and try to access to blog.msl37.org
As you will see, it redirects you to http://www.msl37.org/ when it shouldn't.
I don't know how do they manage the subdomains, but the .htaccess in the upper directory affects the root of a subdomain.

what do you want to do?

Hey all, I have an odd question. I'm seeing a serious number of DNS lookups (coming from localhost) for one of my more popular sites. Is this something apache 1.3 would be doing?
i.e. the site is hosted locally.

to redirect every request to msl37.org to www.msl37.org

was that answer for me?

for yango

and where are the other subdomains? in the same tree?

blog.msl37.org is located in msl37.org/blog.

Oh. I can't think of anything else that would be specifically looking for www.thedomain.com in both its A and AAAA formats.

gushi, you should use /etc/hosts to spply that requests locally.
(If you have access, sure)

So I should put every domain I host in /etc/hosts?
considering the format of /etc/hosts is ipaddress name that would make it a VERY WIDE file.

If you receive a lot of A requests in your DNS for example.com, you resolve it locally, without loading your DNs,
if you mean so.

corrideat ok, then you should be able to use redirectmatch then... RedirectMatch 301 /(.*) http://www.dmkasdnas.org/$1

why is apache even doing the lookup. If I tell it to serve google.com on 192.168.1.1 why am I seeing records in my querylog like this: client 127.0.0.1#62265: query: www.duelinganalogs.com IN A +

and someone goes to ServerAlias or ServerName, if that has a dns entry and points to {IP}, it should 'redirect' to the specified directory on my computer, right?

is that basically how one works?

my namevirtualhosts are configured by IP:port by the way, not by name
I see occasional other requests from localhost for the ServerName of other vhosts.

gushi, are you sure apache is making the dns requests?

did you see my first question?
Hey all, I have an odd question. I'm seeing a serious number of DNS lookups (coming from localhost) for one of my more popular sites. Is this something apache 1.3 would be doing?

is your site totally static?
is your name in /etc/hosts as corrideat suggested?

Actually I just discovered it.
How stupid.
there's a forwarders line in one of my allegedly authoritative-only nameservers.

gushi, yes. If you configured your vhosts with an IP apache shouldn't lookup for it.
gushi, so you redirected to another server, making a request from lh?

there are 400 sites on this box. Would you like me to put them all on ONE LINE of /etc/hosts?

gushi, you should use utilities, like cut, to doing so.
* for doing

that feels like a kluge
considering I've configured my apache in such a way that it shouldn't even consult DNS.

I have installed mod_security but it doesn't seem to work

Here, let's do a quick and simple test shall we? I'll shut down apache and see if these DNS lookups stop, mmkay?

I am running ubunt 7.04
I compiled it myself
and used gotroot's rules

did you put an IP for ServerName?

No I didn't Yango.
it would appear actually that apache is doing a lookup of the ServerAlias (not the servername).

anyhow it shouldn't look it constantly ip
up

and the servername is ServerName duelinganalogs.com

it is.
I kill apache, the lookups stop.
It's doing it.

can't it be a script?
running as apache

running as apache is good

yes in theory it could be
the site is a webcomic site so its not entirely static.

i mean if it just started doing it and you haven't changed config or something...
anyhow I'm outta here, good luck

no I noticed about 10% load on my DNS server
and I started logging DNS queries.

yango, I finished

oddly, the lookups are also for AAAA records but apache 1.3 isn't compiled with ipv6.

zitten er hie hollanders?
XD
sorry, my class mates are giving bad orders :p

yango, http://pastebin.ca/568716
yango, a href="http://pastebin.ca/568716"http://pastebin.ca/568716/a

cya all l8er

yango, could you see the mistake?

not doing anything wierd with mod_rewrite?

One little Question
Apache will free all this memory if it is needed or?
http://www.ubuntuusers.de/paste/11779/
262356k total, 259680k used, 2676k free, 492k buffers
262136k total, 249980k used, 12156k free, 16120k cached

apache itself doesnt use much memory
do you use any third party modules ?

no
Its the apache2 package from the ubuntu dapper repo
mysql + php5
http://www.ubuntuusers.de/paste/11780/

blame php

PHP should be presumed to be at fault until conclusively proven otherwise. And even thereafter, if it's convenient.

remove php and see your memory consumption
+, php is a third party module

i need php
This is the normal ram usage with php?

probably depends on your app. But php itself eats a lot of memory, compared to apache.

memory_limit = 16M
hmmm thats in the php.ini
that would to all those 14M apache2 childs
fit

http://rafb.net/p/utFcLK88.html

Then I add #LoadModule dav_svn_module /usr/lib/httpd/modules/mod_dav_svn.so to httpd.conf
and when restarting apache I get:
Syntax error on line 70 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/lib/httpd/modules/mod_dav_svn.so into server: /usr/lib/libsvn_fs_base-1.so.0: undefined symbol: db_create

hello does someone knows a search or query script who will be able to bring files out of a backup file, a .bkf

bbtech- you using bdb?
do ldd on that file
maybe a lib its trying to reference isnt found

expiresdefault

expiresdefault is Dhttp://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mod_expires.html#expiresdefault

botsnack

thanks, barefoot

too many abrevations for me
bdb? ldd on what file?

try #windows ?
aaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh

http://monoport.com/3337 - now i want replace mysite.com/v/foo with mysite.com/player.swf?file=/videos/foo.flv

can help me please ?

RewriteRule

RewriteRule is http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mod_rewrite.html#rewriterule or http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_rewrite.html#rewriterule or http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_rewrite.html#rewritelog or tricky, because .htaccess RewriteRule acts differently than httpd.conf (RTFM!)

That's what you're lookin' for.

Hi all. I'm trying to blacklist a specific IP address using htaccess, but every time I put in the commands for it I get a 500 error.

garbage

try putting junk in your htaccess file. If it's being read, you will get an Internal Server Error when accessing that resource.

htaccess purpose

Don't confuse htaccess with password-protection. The purpose of htaccess is to enable users to configure apache locally for their own directories, when they have no privilege to do so in httpd.conf. Using htaccess slows the server. Also rewriterules and redirects are more complex in htaccess

allowoverride allow

Well it does work in a subdirectory when I am whitelisting an IP block.

allow override

Allow may be used in .htaccess files if AllowOverride is set to Limit

It's just in my web root directory that I'm getting an error.

okay.. show me HOW you're black/white listing?

Specifically, I have Order Allow, Deny / Allow from All / Deny from 1.1.1.1
That is what gives the 500 error.
In a subdir, I have Order Deny, Allow / Deny from all / Allow from 2.2.0.0/16
That works fine.

it's supposd to be order allow, deny and order allow, deny
...
order allow,deny and order deny,allow

You mean lowecase?

dyld: /usr/sbin/httpd Undefined symbols:
_checkpw
/usr/sbin/apachectl: line 193: 625 Trace/BPT trap $HTTPD -t

no, I mean witout space after the ,
that's cool, never seen that one.

Ah.

RewriteRule ^/v/([^/\.]+)/?$ player.swf?file=videos/$1.flv [L]

its not that cool, apache won't start up and i have no clue why

i want rewrite mysite.com/v/foo with mysite.com/player.swf?file=/videos/foo.flv

what i pasted is the only error message, after it checks all my .conf files and says they are ok

is that in .htaccess?

yes

that will not work.

why ?

you're trying to anchor the rule, and that will not work in .htaccess
production system?

huh?

Please state the nature of your computing emergency

can you help me to fix it ?

get rid of the ^/
let's cool down and research.
google, ldd, nm, etc..

Thanks, that did it.

now i have
RewriteRule ^v/([^/\.]+)/?$ player.swf?file=http://www.hdd.com.pt/videos/$1.flv [L]
that realy open player.swf
but is not sending the $1

cool down? wtf are you talking about?

I thought you're talking about a production system.. so I suggest to keep a cool head, which is usually VERY IMPORTANT when dealing with stuff that doesn't work BUT SHOULD BE OR SOMEONE GETS BEHEADED.

umm ok
i've never had to troubleshoot non-config syntax problems in apache before because... apache just works

we're dealing with PHP here!
blame php!

PHP should be presumed to be at fault until conclusively proven otherwise. And even thereafter, if it's convenient.

php?

php is enabled by loading mod_php and using the AddHandler directive to activate it. See also CGI The proper application type is: application/x-httpd-php or see http://www.devside.net/articles/php

did you compile Apache/PHP yourself?

apache no
php yes

well.. I'd suggest to start with ldd

what is ldd?

ldd?

no idea, jmcg

ldd is the single most important debugging tool, when dealing with dynamically compiled binaries or libraries. try ldd /path/to/lib/or/bin
ldd?

ldd is the single most important debugging tool, when dealing with dynamically compiled binaries or libraries. try ldd /path/to/lib/or/bin

botsnack

thanks, jMCg

did you run make test for for php?

yes

Can mod-rewrite redirect a request to a different IP address?

0.4% tests failed

Anyways.. what does ldd say??
cr why not just use
Redirect?

Redirect is http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mod_alias.html#redirect or http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_alias.html#redirect or see 'Redirect Context'

i have no idea what you are talking about when you say ldd

hey everyone
Does anyone here use Subversion with Apache?

man ldd
they are kind of two entirely different things, what do you mean by 'with"?

man ldd

no manual entry for ldd
command not found

Accessing a Subversion repository via Apache. I think it's mod_svn or mod_dav.

hey, i've learned the hard way in the past that ssl name based vhosting doesn't work on a single IP.
but now this guy is telling me otherwise. is there a new hack that was done?

that's new

they stlil use the same cert, but the vhosts still multiplex off of the name?
it'll take me some time for the hostnames to propagate, so i'm curious if anyone knows off hand if this will work.

Hm. Can the redirect be conditional? Redirect only if the request is from a certain IP?

there are plenty of web interfaces for svn repos. I still use cvsweb myself,

package libc6 on debian, glibc on Archlinux owns ldd -- what system are you on?

yup

os x 10.3.9

yup it can. mod_rewrite is conditional, and you can use it to redirect.
(oh sorry if i'm just jumping in and you knew that and you were telling somoene)

Hm. I got a 500 on that, too. (I seem to be getting a lot of those today.)

apachectl graceful is complaining about ssl related files are not found for all my domains, though ssl is turned off for all of them

No, I'm asking, it's OK. :-)

OS X is really totally unknown to me :-/

RewriteCond %{REMOTE_ADDR}=1.1.1.1 / RewriteRule ^/~(.+) http://127.0.0.1/~$1 [R,L] -- Gives a 500 error. (I'm trying to get a spammer to go away.)

os x is unknown to most of us, I venture.

K.I.S.S. Deny from ip

hrm, netcraft doesn't have platform stats. I was wodnering what % of apache on linux vs win32 vs mac

I already have that working. I was hoping to smack him/her/it when next they try something.

thats not as easy to work out as whether its apache or iis
why bother wasting your cycles on something pointless?

redirect override

Redirect may be used in .htaccess files if AllowOverride is set to FileInfo

jMCg does libxml have any effect on apache?

nope.. well.. uhm..
I don't remember.

libxml and then php5 are all i've done

But if it affects php, and doesn't resolve, then it does affect apache if you want apache to load mod_php

i've since turned off both the php4 and php5 modules
the SSL thing is wierd, apache is now complaining about the default SSL settings on all my domains, even though SSL is turned off. Like the value of SSLCertificateFile for example

ah intersting. you CAN do name based vhosting, but it will get served the same certificate

For example, you can do something like svn co http://localhost/svn/repos to check out the repository.

what does 'even though SSL is turned off.' mean?

SSLEngine Off
i don't use ssl on any of my many domains
(well i do on one)

well.. that's quite useless.
You can have SSLEngine Off and still specify Values for SSLStuff...

what is the 500 error mean in apache?

500

500 is Internal Server Error

internal server error

internal server error is a meaningless message. Look in the error log instead. See also http://httpd.apache.org/docs/howto/cgi.html#butitsstillnotworking for possible causes if it's CGI

jMCg i know this, but the default values that were in the SSL stuff never caused any problmes and i never modified them, but now apache is complaining about htem

ah, nope, never done that. I use ssh write access to my repo (e.g. cvs commit) and cvsweb is just to look at stuff (like graphical side-by-side diffs of versions and revision graphs)

hm, I was wondering if the mod_svn had support for stuff like that.

are they in some file you're now including you didn't include before?

nope

Looks like you can only browse the tree though.

they're right in my regular .conf file for each domain
jMCg i do have one domain that uses SSL and has valid values in there, if i copy them to all my other domains, will apache stfu about it, without actually breaking anything?

Starting httpd: Syntax error on line 70 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /usr/lib/apache/mod_dav_svn.so into server: /usr/lib/libsvn_fs_base- 1.so.0: undefined symbol: db_create
I want to load it

ok this is even more wierd, i just turned off all my virtual hosts except the first two, and when i go to them, the html gets downloaded as a file to my desktop

are you also loading mod_dav ?

LoadModule dav_svn_module /usr/lib/apache/mod_dav_svn.so
LoadModule authz_svn_module /usr/lib/httpd/modules/mod_authz_svn.so

ok i'm getting my domains back up one by one
this is very strange

so no

I used --enable-dav --enable-dav-fs when compiling apache
I have DAVLockDB /var/db/DAVLock in the httpd.conf file and it is giving any errors
uI have DAVLockDB /var/db/DAVLock in the httpd.conf file and it is giving any errors/u

run ldd on that library - does it show anything as being missing?

http://rafb.net/p/SzMG0194.html

hmm

/lib/tls/i686/libdb-4.2.so

mine looks like:

/usr/lib/libdb-4.2.so

there something odd about libraries in /lib/tls, but I can't remember what

http://www.pastebin.ru/39612

uhm, make a directory called "myproject" in c:/wamp/www/teste/web/

humm.. forgot the www.site.com/myproject i need this: www.site.com/teste
is my fault. hehe
but the document root of www.site.com/teste is c:/wamp/www/teste/web

anyone here can give to me a help with rewrite rule please ?
RewriteRule ^v/([^&]+) player.swf?file=http://www.hdd.com.pt/videos/$1.flv [L]

idea ?

can yuo please clarify what you are trying to achieve

and now everything is working
and i really didn't do anything
this is so wierd
oh well

look again:: http://www.pastebin.ru/39616
Is this possivel ?

hi guys with apache 1.3 I am using the HostnameLookups off in the config file, but i'm still seeing hostnames instead of ip's in the log file
is there anything else I need to add to disable hostname lookups

if you type in http://www.site.com, you will see the content in c:/wamp/www/teste/web.

do you use names in any allow/deny rule?

to see http://www.site.com/foo, you need to create c:/wamp/www/teste/web/foo/

rici- i don't think so, but let me look
rici the only one i see is commented out, the rest are all ip's

yes... but i want see www.site.com/teste but my document root of virtual host is c:/wamp/www/teste/web
is possible this ?

?

i want see www.site.com/teste but my document root of virtual host is c:/wamp/www/teste/web

rici i have rewritecond that use hostnames as part of the check

make a directory c:/wamp/www/teste/web/teste
put the content in there

hehe. no, no.

if a reverse dns lookup is ever done, it will probably show up in the log
but i'm not sure if rewritecond will do that

rici- which log are you talking about?

the access log

the access log is Usually located at /usr/local/apache/logs/access_log or /var/log/apache/access_log or /var/log/httpd/access_log or "C:/Program Files/Apache Group/Apache/logs/access.log" or /var/log/httpd-access.log

i mean, once an ip number is mapped into a name, it's available for logging, so the access log will show it.

rici- ok , there are entries that use the hostname
thats what i'm attempting to get rid of

it's ok... you can come back now...

ldap is such a beast.

from reading http://www.pastebin.ru/39616, and readong what you're asking for, creating a subdirectory of your documentroot is al you need to do

yeah i will, once i've figure out how to kick you via chanserv first

heh

dildo

:o
just do /disco chanserv megaspaz

hehe

no1 help me with rewrite please ? :X

i think it might be autorem

I *thought* mod_rewrite didn't do reverse dns if you have HostnameLookup off, but i'm not 100% certain
particularly on 1.3

what about it?

but i'm pretty sure that allow/deny will force a lookup even if the name in the deny/allow line is "localhost"

http://monoport.com/3339

what is player.swf ?

its a flv flash player
like youtube

and it supports what you are trying to d?

http://www.jeroenwijering.com/?item=Flash_Video_Player
i dont know
if i write player.swf?file=http://www.hdd.com.pt/videos/themovie.flv
that works

oh I see
change the [L] to [QSA,L]
see if that helps

hmm
ill try
tks

what would a typical request be to trigger that rule ?

yes

"yes" ?

i want like open www.hdd.com.pt/v/foo like open http://www.hdd.com.pt/player.swf?file=video/foo.flv
just that

mod_rewrite is what you want
rewrite

rewrite is one of the crustiest bits of code out there, but also the most useful see also mod_rewrite

mod_rewrite

mod_rewrite is http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/mod_rewrite.html or http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_rewrite.html or see http://rewrite.drbacchus.com/

RewriteRule ^/v/(.*)$ /player.swf?file=video/$1.flv [QSA,L]
try that

The requested URL /v/nxxzspbno was not found on this server.
well, now found
nope,... not working again
if you want see diference by your self
http://www.hdd.com.pt//v/nxxzspbno

aparently I haven't made the right sacrifices to the mod_rewrite gods today

http://www.hdd.com.pt/player.swf?file=videos/nxxzspbno.flv

doesn't look like its even hitting that rule

rici- ok I will keep looking then

I want to restrict access to a parent dir, but have no restriction on a child - the only way I've found is to use a "Satisfy any" directive with "Allow from all" on the child (Location) - is this legit/good practice?

restrict all childs but the one you want public
LocationMatch is your friend
s/childs/children

what you did is fine too

if i make a website for a company which has promised me % of profits
whats to stop them stealing it?
is the website legally mine?

take a fee instead

no. it's not yours. it's called work for hire.
well depends on what you can get in writing...

ekimus, yango - thanks

hello guys and gals

megaspaz

megaspaz is easier than his mom

if i give them the site as work done for them
theres nothing to stop them just screwing me over and not giving me the 15% profit they promised

sure there is
it's called getting stuff in writing

because even if i was legally entitled to it they could have dodgy business costs

although anyone with an account can still screw you

which mean their on paper profit is a lot lower

that's just life
if you think they're dodgy don't do it
tell 'em this is my hourly rate

ok well i'll tell them that the website is legally mine i'm not giving it to them. but they can use it as long as i get my 15%

any changes to the agreed upon specs afterwards is going to XX extra
don't tell them
get it in writing and have them sign it

ok
i'll have to get a fax of it then because they are from the US
and i'm uk
and because they can't steal the website without infringing copyright, or steal my code because they won't have access to it then theres nothing they can do really

how hard is it to change the listening port?

Listen

Listen tells apache what IP address and port to listen to. See http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/mpm_common.html#listen or see binding.

do i only have to change the 2 entry's in the httpd?

why? you already forgot?

ah

hey fajita

i am a she.

forgot what?

Listen

Listen tells apache what IP address and port to listen to. See http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/mpm_common.html#listen or see binding.

you did this this morning/night/evening

is it easier for software to pull data entries from mysql than php to send it to software? i'm guessing yes

it never worked

wow

[ Halleck] do i need seperate AuthUserFile directives for each user?

i love that one

i can access my site but not from another network

your port forward is wrong or your ISP blocks it

i cant port forward 8080 in my router i think that ight be why
my isp lets me have 8080

well, of course that's (part of) the cause

but not 80

did you check portforward.com?

it's weird i see no option to change the 8080 port
and when i try to port forward i get this error.....
port range conflict with remote management
i'll have to dig around in here some more..
there she is

guys

I guess you want the rest of us to ignore you then, Saberu

anyone want to try my site?

anyone want to give their opinion
on my question

75.92.142.128
i just dropped some stuff in there i'm not warezing
ok it's on..
thanks
fajita?

yes, thecount?

is there a basic idiot guide so i can make the page look nicer
my g/f is going to make my site but i dont know how to get it to display after she is done

not really a question for #apache, and it depends on the software and the data...

did you even read the tutorial I recommended? You just need to place the files your gf will produce in the folder that is specified on the DocumentRoot parameter... exactly where you put your mp3s

yes

well the software is most likely C or C++ based

i tried that last night with no luck

not sure i didn't ask cos it's not my software it's my partners
who i only just spoke to today, but i'll ask him

no luck and didn't work don't help us help you
you need to provide more info than that

i took a html file renamed it index.html and placed it in the root where the mp3's are
n/m
i'm retarded
i just realised something

good !

i can't believe i was that dumb

wow

too big to fit on the internet?

i was trying to make my default page my ip
i wasn;t putting in 76.2314.234.xx:8080/index.html

i tried to make it my shoe, the other day

whats weird is when i use firefox it open it like a document
fajita do you have firefox?

i haven't a clue, thecount

whats the easiest way to fetch information about directiories and file names?
or am i better off using php or communicating with an ftp server for that info?

is there a context to that question?
i haven't been paying attention..

how do i retrive my ssl cert's fingerprint?

take a very deep breath and read man openssl

yeah!
what?

ahh sorry i was busy im back
i managed to clarify what this guy wants

thanks

just gonna go have a piss
then i'll tell u about it
if hes legit i could well be in thailand in 6 months time

information--

ok well this guy has a good idea for a business
which is data backup over secure tunnels for small businesses
he wants me to do his front end for him

hello.

can anyone help me with a proxy config issue

is it an x509?

can anyone here help me with ant?

try ##java

and he wants a site that will communicate with his G6 ftp server by creating user accounts on it. which shouldn't be too hard to do if g6 is half decent software

ask away
i don't know the command you need, sorry

i'm asking if the ceritificate is an x509 certificate

aswell as being the main site for customers to login etc and signup as new customers

that's old news, surely? that doesn't mean there's room for competition of course
how would i know? what's in it?

ofcourse it's been done a lot
but hes got connections he says
and he thinks theres a gap in the market for small businesses where hes based in california

ok. I'm using a proxy balancer like so:
Proxy balancer://mongrel_cluster

i'm not so sure myself whether small businesses can afford to pay for backups
