alex[slx], There's not too much documentation on f7 but there's
a lot on xine. I suggest you keep searching. I'll look too.
ok, thanks. I have to go now, I'll be back later. Can you query
me if you find anything?
sure
cheers
is it possible to powerdown a scsi disk while the system is
running?
unplug it
hello all , can you tell me what is the name of the module
for JDK ?
I take that back, you could short out the drive
One time when I was new to linux, someone on an irc channel told
me to run rm -rf /
anybody there ?! .. I need to install JDK on my fedore core
server. but I don't know the name of the module
did you google 'JDK module'
or 'JDK module fedora'
Install Sun's RPM, and the JPackage -compat package.
Devyll, http://fedorasolved.org/browser-solutions/sun-jdk/
just install normal jdk and then use alternatives
thanks guys
I just get the impression sometimes that people havn't given a
sincere effort before they come here and are quite demanding at
times

during poweroff the hard drives are powered down, so i
figured there was a way to do it
hdparm can do it. Can't sdparm?
sdparm --command=stop /dev/sdX
brilliant that worked
didnt even know there was an sdparm
can i unplug it now? from a running system?
/proc/scsi/scsi'
how do you know this by heart
misspent youth
wow, so much porn?
os images for vmware
Now if I could just double my memory
oh, os images for vmware is a good one
i need to remember that
anyone know where to get the source files for the
corresponding alsa driver that comes with fedora 7?
www.alsa-project.org
most probably at its homepage
e_, but it's true
where else? at cnn.com?
/o\
mine aren't using that much space though. 49G
/raid0f/vmware/
tibyke, and do you happen to know what version the alsa
driver is? I have no ideea how to find out...
u0m3, of fedora7?
cat /proc/asound/version
i think its 1.014rc3
1.0.14rc3
thank you
i got up this morning, my hdd was grinding, the cpu was hi, and
the load was high, this all went down after a few minutes of me
using it
any idea why this would be?
or what it would be?
beagle?
that reminds me, is beagle enabled by default?
interesting, yeah
firefox is doing it now too
i removed beagle
beagle is enabled by default, I removed it also due to that
issue
any reason why firefox would do it now?
Nope
hmm
i just changed sites and it stopped
abcnews.com
i didnt need beagle anyway
seems that beagle isnt even installed on my system
spacelobsters, it should be
i installed mine last night, but obviously that may be an
issue, and it makes sensce
its not
sense*
installed fedora 7 of live disc yesterday
now doing a yum info beagle reveals that its not installed
yeah, beagle was not installed by default on mine either
anyone had troubles with f7 and a usb scanner?

firefox had a beagle extension
heh
i need the php_ssh2.so fil compile i think.. on

Ah, sorry, just realized you used placeholders
but i only need help for them compile ssh2 library for php, i

6 letter long password, and can be found in any password
list?
y would one need a password list if he just tells everyone the
password
pleas ecan help?
ubernewb, go away troll
agree, but even then it would be easy to get into the server
just by knowing port 22 is open
probably it's been probed already
lol, this must be the funniest moment ever on #fedora since i
started following this channel!
my comopany server
host ip is 74.229.101.83 and ssh port 22, login is
root/123qwe, I need PHP_SSH2.SO FILE in the PHP.INI file for
connect it work
its so i can connect to linux with the php from script
but can not compile.. give many error.. so i need help got tell to
ask here
the good news is that there's a vsftpd running too...that's the
better target
Bah, could be a badly disguised attempt at setting up an
honeypot
how can i send the message to many users logged on to the
company server? i see there is, but they are not compile php_ssh2?
i want send message like the broadcast messg, HOW?
bhow can i send the message to many users logged on to the
company server? i see there is, but they are not compile php_ssh2?
i want send message like the broadcast messg, HOW?/b
ok now someone is one..how can have him download and setup the
php_ssh2.so files for me for it to work OK?
i need send broadcase message, how do do that?
i heard of a credit cards details that got posted online just
to see how much money would get taken
ubernewb, i have to ban you for posting root and
passwords
what me? can not help? u mean ban like kick me? WHY?
Chances are the root user password has been changed
already
how can send message to them other user logged into?
heheh. bigger problems on the horizon...
ubernewb, 1) for being an idiot and advertiseing the root
password when no one has responded to you that should be done in
private not in open channel and you need to talk to your boss about
doing that
might be a bit off topic, but is there a fedora packaged
software that i can use to show logs on the server via
apache?
not to mention for having l33t set up as irc client user
now ubernewb is to get fiored!1
he better is
if he was for real (and I doubt it) #fedora did his boss a
favour
no doubt
gm
Brandano, and he has proven himself to be weak not l33t
I wonder, what security issues would cause logging into an
ssh account while you are using root on your local
machine?
hi, on F7 where is the right place to add a not standard
routing entry, eg. normal net is 192.168.1.0 but i want to route
something to 192.168.10.0 overanother gateway ?
i gots f7 on my machine with nvidia card, but i had to run
the install rather than upgrade
i think it's happy
incidentally, looking on google found me the 'wall' command in
seconds
Brandano, google does that, yeah
grma, man ifconfig
Read in /usr/share/doc/initscripts-*/sysconfig.txt.
hey, I know this ain't the right place to ask but meh, you
guys are very knowledgable, to connect a computer to another, with
just the ethernet (no hubs, switches), do you need
crossover?
that is if you can even do that
Usually.
ok
alex[slx], or set one computer upside down and use a
straight
alex[slx], make sure to send me a picture ;-)
alex yes u need crossover
lol
i did do RAID-1 once... http://www.kanarip.com/~kanarip/raid1.jpg
some cards manage to get a connection running with a
straight, I think, but that's definitely not the
standard
hello all - has anybody here setup phpeclipse in fedora?
har har?
heh, unhackable raid
cool, does each drive supply power to the other through
sata?
alex[slx]: Yes, you need a crossover cable. Set a static IP
on both PCs on the same subnet, should have no problem.
Brandano, this is just a spare set, not really hot-spare
alex[slx], don't have to spend money on a crossover cable if you
don't want to. cut a patch cable in half and cross 'em
yourself.
ouch
ARGH. I ran a yum update and now I don't have i386 firefox
anymore. how do I get it back ?
or just crimp your own like any good boy should
Most people have no need for a $30 crimper.
Nor would have the utp connectors, which typically come in bulk
of at least 10
has anyone here used dbg for php in fedora?
i've still got my crimper, but ran out of rj45 ends a little
while ago
i like makin' my own cables. i feel old skool.
plus, i can can get custom lengths.
I don't have the coordination for crimping.
I'd rather have a nicely made cable with molded stress relief
personally..
I managed to crimp rj 45 cables using a flat headed
screwdriver in th past. Amazingly enough they worked
compusa doesn't sell the 4.35 foot cable i usually need
nice
That extra .65 foot is a big deal
rj45 plugs don't cost anything tho... at least not in the
quantites needed for home users
guys shouldn't this conversation take place in #cisco?
yep
No, it should take place nowhere, it's silliness.
lol, +1
Well, I did ask an ontopic quetion a little while ago, but
haven't got an answer yet
i didn't see the question, so 42 is my answer
about logging in with root local?
what is the proper way to install some nautilus scripts for
all users?
thanks
ooo, i'm sticking with 42.
bingo!
I don't quite like the idea of replicating stuff. I suppose I
can set up a bunch of symlinks
can't you use the /etc/bashrc file for that sort of thing?
oh, well, i'm thinking old skool again
yep I suppose so
but I was just wondering if on Fedora nautilus had a generic
nautilus-script folder shared among all users
hi all
i've not had to manage users in X for fedora users
didnt have much luck with the 64bit nvidia xen drivers
i guess i'm still at 42
I've not played around with it but doesn't nautilus source
/usr/share/nautilus before it sources user files. I think you can
put defaults out there, if the user chooses to override with their
own settings so be it though.
that would be fine with me. However I was expecting some sort
of scripts or nautilus-script folder to be already there
http://code.google.com/p/mariuss-nautilus-scripts/
gonna grab the nautilus source and see if there is a global
location....
couldn't find much on google. /me is no expert
the 1st boot wizard thingy didn't come up on 1st boot, how do
I run it manually?
firstboot
"firstboot cannot run, exiting"
you probably have /etc/sysconfig/firstboot disabling it
fedora is great
sorry just had to tell someone
yep, that was the problem.
thankx
unfortunately no, it only sources scripts from
/home/username/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts. There's no control over
whats compiled in.
symlinks, perhaps /etc/skel may be helpfull (but hard to
update).
oh, well, for the moment I'll just live by making multiple
copies of the script. I could replace the nautilus-scripts
directory with a symlink, I expect
anyone running l7filter?
if you symlink the dir then user's either cannot create their
own scripts (if the dir is ro) or can clobber each others (if dir
is rw)
yep. both things I don't quite like
there should be a way to create some sort of "aggregate"
symlink
ln -s /dir/onlythese*
/home/user/.gnome2/nautilus-scripts/
but in truth the machine where I am doing these tweaks is
mine, I am mainly being overly nitpicky
NP, but you could use the about ln -s ... 2/dev/null in profile
or bash.profile to do update at login.
s/about/above/
yep, sounds like a good idea, thanks
how can i convert pdf from odt
i mean to get pdf from a odt
AFAIK openoffice can safve pdf files
Uhh, you hit "Export directly as PDF"
hm..
is SMP now by default enabled in all kernels?
Looks like adobe acrobat's logo
yes
Yes, the kernel will autodetect that
ah, i see
it cant save as pdf
i was a just wondering
-a
also, where do i find the powernow-k8 module source in the
kernel-devel tree?
hm, does that apply to fc6 asweöll?
Weird, I'm pretty sure that's the point of that
feature...
wuops, sorry for the last line
dunno how that got in
kernel-devel is not the entire source code
aha!
how do i get the rest?
It's been like that since 2.6.20 I believe... it's fairly
new.
kernel source rpm, it might be in the release notes
hi, how can i use sed to take input (probably stdin?) and strip
away all alpha characters and leave only numbers, then give that
out to be used a var? in a script
you can save as a postscript file, and then convert it using
the gpl version of ghostscript. But what's the point when OO can
save a PDF directly?
ah, thank you guys
your trick worked
sed 's/[0-9]//g'
i can export as pdf
thanks
I thought they did away with kernel-source... and not just use
kernel.srpm?
thanks al
that removes all numbers
the kernel source rpm is kernel.src.rpm
yep.
oh, haha. i read it backwards!
hehe..whoops?
's/[^0-9]//g' should work
how about the kernel src.rpm ?
thanks
Yeah, that's the new way... they didn't like having 2 packages
containing the same thing.
It was kind of silly to have a kernel-source pacakge when it
already was in the src.rpm
Exactly
aaaaaha, yumdownloader --source kernel
that's nifty
i want to use it in a script where i'm going to convert all my
mp3's to oggs. what i'm gonna do is use id3info on each mp3 file,
then grep for the line with 'bitrate' in, then strip that line of
its alpha chars, then use that what comes out as a var in the
oggenc param
kwizart, http://www.mytempdir.com/1354325
my logs from xen nvidia 64-bit
so could i just var = id3info file.mp3 | grep 'Bitrate' | sed
's/[^0-9]//g'
BITRATE=$(id3info $file | grep 'itrate' | sed
's/[^0-9]//g')
thank you
grep 'itrate'?
you walmost had it
goes back to expect assword
just habit to ignore the first cap letter, although grep -i
would be the same thing
what happened to grep -i ?
ah
there it was
thanks
SlaSheR84, so it do not work ?
What's a command to generate an ssh rsa key?
im building a new kernel RPM that includes the l7filter and
netfilter patches so I can do application layer QoS. the l7 kernel
patch for 2.6.18 doesnt apply cleanly when added directly to the
specfile, so i rpmbuild -bp'ed the kernel source, then copied it,
applied the l7 patch by hand and generated my own
patch.
*cough* ssh-keygen?
then i added this to the spec and rebuit. however the full build
fails right before compilation duing the config step. it chokes on
the new L7 config directives introduced.
how can i get the spec to work with the additional config
options? or am i going about this the wrong way?
i would really prefer to have a RPM that i can deploy quickly to
other platforms instead of just rolling a new kernel each
time
Hi everyone!!!!!!!!!!
"at the choco, chocobanana..."
no offense choco, but for my taste budds you taste like a
chemical spill
?
whatever
we're just having fun with the name
sung to the tune of copacobana
added the modifications to the script and nothing's swearing at
me yet..
does anyone knows why firewire HDDs are no longer recognized
after resuming from hibernation? (a normal reboot restores things
to normal)
in Fedora 7
not familiar with that particular one but there are currently
threads on kernel.org of Linus stating how much our hiberation code
sucks and needs to be rewritten. I suspect it's a rather global
issue (perhaps tied to version of kernel)
alright, maybe it's solved with swsusp2?
yeah. linus starts a flame war because he doesnt use
hibernation. there fore, NO ONE should use it.
i've never had good hibernation experiences
usually ends up in reboot
oh. and SVN blows, use GIT. wtf. hahahah
here it's ok, the only thing missing is the HDD
recognizing
uhm.. what is the "vid / fid" thing people talk about when
talking about acpi and cpufrequencies?
yeah, I looked at git a bit just last night. Didn't wow me.
In fact, I find the man page commentary is probably going to
prevent serious use all by itself.
hehe. yeah. agreed. did you watch the talk he made at
google?
ah, frequency identifier.. nice
nope, didn't see it.
i'll take Linus' opinion over most anytime
just because a man contribute something great to the world,
doesnt mean everything he'she says is great
shouldn't religion be kept off the channel?
even Linus will tell you to develop your own opinion
all praise the spaghetti monster!
Ayep. Voltaire. "I might not agree with what you say, but
I'll fight to the death for your right to say it"
if you're going to claim cvs/svn are superior to git you're
insane
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4XpnKHJAok8
i say spagetthi is better than motocross
First line of the man git = "Git - Stupid content tracker"....
nice start
I think that the most important feature of a version control
system is that it ought to be diffused among developers
man, i'm hungry now
too busy listening to Pink Floyd through my headphones at work
for that right now
so you like GIT?
nope, I don't even know it. But I know CVS and SVN
somewhat
and pretty much all the world knows those
but they are the opposite. centralized source versioning. GIT is
distributed
The concept terminology in git is weird to me also. Calling
the two levels "porcelin" and "plumbing", it's like someone was
soooo disgusted as they wrote that stuff.
interesting concept
which is torvalds point.
are there rpms now for the nvidia graphic adapter for fedora
7?
yes
I think livna carries them, check first, I'm not really
sure.
I presume you speak of the proprietary drivers.
there aren't any for ati afaik, so you might be SOL
livna has had them from the beginning.
thx ivazquez
are those the ones for fedora 7? because I have them with
fedora 6
got the instrucctions from fedorasolved.org
in my experience installing the nvidia drivers using livna's
repository is a trouble-free operation
just install livna and install them via yum
livna carries repositories for both Fedora 6 and 7 (and other
versions). be sure you install the proper repository (best to use
their rpm for that)
and I assume you have fedora 7
nope, sticking to FC6 for the moment
but I don't see why the procedure should be any different
Hmmm, I wonder if an upgrade to F7 will leave folks livna
repos pointing at F6... that could be 'interesting'
that's my question, has livna built the rpms for the nvidia
modules for fedora 7
hm.. is there any way i can force my cpu to a higher speed when
the linux kernel manages that? (governor=ondemand)
one way to find out
did you "update" from FC6 or install FC7 clean?
so you upgrade livna-release, it isn't too tricky
install the livna rpm
yes. its listed on the livna site
I haven't moved to fedora 7, just want to make sure the rpms
are there so I can upgrade
then run yum info kmod-nvidia
kmod-nvidia-legacy (i assume)
I don't want to get stuck without the drivers
kwame, yes they are (which card do you own ?)
nope. its just kmod-nvidia still
sorry, I am also a win32 user. That automatically makes me
diffident of new OS versions
VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV44 [Quadro NVS
285] (rev a1)
so I'll stick to FC6 until people starts working on FC8
maybe you should take kmod-nvidia-96xx
ftp://rpm.livna.org/fedora/7/i386/
and ls *nvidia* There appears to be legacy and others.
normally kmod-nvidia but there is some problem with some users
with 100.14.09
thanks man
anyone has cpufrequency scaling working on an athlon64 in
f7?
can i make ps only return process ID's?
what for?
massive process kill
yeah, not tricky. I wonder how many folks will miss and if there
is some version trap somewhere that will yell at them or force the
upgrade. A lot of users are easily tricked
try pgrep / pkill maybe?
works wonderfully! thanks
ps | sed '/^ \+PID.\+/d;s/^
\+//;s/^\([0-9]\+\)\+.\+$/\1/'
but i'm definitely making a note of that which greenfish just
gave me!!
Is there a command to restart alsa?
theres probably a simpler way to do that using tr or cut or
similar. but im a sed fanatic
i really should learn regular expressions...
newer system-config-soundcard
yes. i've seen sed is quite potent. i actually wanna learn
sed too
JohnMahowald, What about it?
There's no restart button T_T
I'm hearing no sound
and it worked fine last night (haven't changed a thing)
did sound bomb out after running any app today?
F7's has a config reset button as I recall
/dev/audio and see if you hear noise or get an error
message.
frozty_sa, The first app I loaded was amarok. (Took a while to
load) and I heard nothing.
jesus christ! there are TOOLS for that
scampbell, No noise, no error message.
want to see a better one?
i do! i do!
try killing the artsd process
and the mixer shows volume and pcm up yes?
scampbell, Sec
frozty_sa, None are running
alsa watch for a 'mute' option.
scampbell, Nothing with "mute" in alsamixer
what will that one do?
no, i have horrible ones myself
:P
it's gonna take me quite a few minutes to browse it through and
figure it out
translate a years worth of irclogs and link posts into SQL
insterts
that is pretty damn useful
or 10 years, it really doesnt matter. i just had to restore some
stuff
hello everyone, what is the command to the disk usage on the
LVM?
hello everyone, what is the command to show the disk usage on
the LVM?
To what?
{pv,vg,lv}display
thanks ivazquez
ivazquez, but it only show how big the lv, not the free space
left on a lv
That's what df is for.
df -h
openbysource, df -h did not show the disk usage of a lv
inside a LVM
lv should be mounted though for that to work
the lv doesnt have free space, the filesystem has free
space
how do i configure (map) the buttons on my joysticks and
gamepads?
lv occupy fix space it has been given during it's creation
that is lvcreate
It can be resized though.
torbjorn, the LVM does have freespace
does anyone know where i can find an app called albumart by any
chance?
i said LV
/dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol00
71G 9.7G 57G 15% /
ive googled but nothing
It can be enlarged while active, but reduced only when
inactive, I think.
home page seems down http://louhi.kempele.fi/~skyostil/projects/albumart/
that's the output of df -h tinh_
no thats the filesystem that happens to resize on a fixed-size
LV
Never heard of it.
ok cheers was worth a shot
torbjorn, so we dont' have any command to know how much space
left in a LV?
nothing very serious anyway just wanted to try it out
there is no such thing as "space left" on a LV
the LV has one fixed size
Unless you've expanded the LV, the FS will occupy all of
it.
the size of the LV has nothing to do with what you put on
it
i think he is asking for how much size is left before he gets
out of pv size :P
you need some filesystem utility to check the filesystem that
_might_ be on the LV
that operation has nothing to do with LVM
openbysource, you got that, I just want to know how big is my
fedora7 installation
by looking at a shoe box, can you tell if there are shoes in
it? no you need to open the lid
same thing with LV's
the size of the shoe box is the same regardless of there being
shoes in it or not
well it seems like your fedora installation is 9.7 gb
its up to the shoes to be spacious enough to fill out all the
space in it or not
torbjorn, thanks for explanation
like the others told you, there is a command, df, that will tell
you how much space there is left on a mounted file system
np
i dont know any that will investigate an unmounted file system,
but there probably are
so, my question will be how much space left in the "shoe box"
after I put in it some "shoes"
yup
df -h # is nice for that
nobody?
but it needs to be mounted
Not a clue.
ive never used joysticks or gamepads with linux i have to
admit
torbjorn, of course my f7 installation on it, it is
mounted
k ty
ill give google another try i guess
If you *really* suspect an issue then compare the outputs of df
and lvdisplay.
I'm having a problem with rpmbuild
I'm trying to follow the directions at
http://liquidat.wordpress.com/2007/05/31/howto-sun-java-on-fedora-7/
to install sun's java
I grabbed java_ee_sdk-5_01-linux-bin from sun
ivazquez, from the output of df and lvdisplay http://rafb.net/p/gbPm6t83.html
ivazquez, I can say I have 57G left in my VolGroup00
That appears to be within tolerances.
the VolGroup00 has 2 Logic Volumn, LogVol00 and LogVol01
Well, not in the VG, but in a FS within the VG.
put it in my /usr/src/redhat/Sources dir
ivazquez, okie
but when I typed rpmbuild -ba java-1.5.0-sun.spec I got a build
error
Those instructions are obsolete.
the size of LogVol01 is 72.44GB
Install Sun's RPM then install JPackage's corresponding -compat
package.
and the / in on LogVol01
ivazquez, k thanks.
ivazquez, I just wanted to make sure I didn't mess up any gcj links
etc..
so, how can I know how big is my /?
df -h /
Use a ruler ...
:-)
hehehehe
i was so about to say sthg like that
has anyone gotten beryl to work with dual X Screens ?
yeah probably someone in #beryl
tinh_, you can use 'df' to see all your partitions. Just
leave off the "/".
is mplayer available for fedora?
odla, yes
or at least it was for FC6 (I just noticed that I don't have it
on 7)
eracc, thanks!
does anyone know approximately how many package are available
for fedora? i'm coming from debian with close to 21,000 at the
moment
odla, checkout livna. we have mplayer in f7 too
"Lots"
openbysource:
tinh_, if you want to see the size of a specific directory use
'du'. I recommend reading man pages for things BTW, so 'man du'.
:-)
mhhh.. this drive is really, really slow..
anyones got a 5400upm laptop disk and would share the output of
hs hdparm -tT /dev/disk ?
e_, mine is probably that speed but my wife has it with her ATM.
She should be back here in the next 15 to 20 minutes
though.
i just haven't used fedora since fc 2 and the whole
dependency issues drove me a bit crazy but i've been running debian
unstable and i think i'd like to switch to something a bit more
stable
5-6000 or so I think. the package db is a work in progress.
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/pkgdb/
it would be nice if you could give me those two lines for me to
compare if somethings wrong with my disk
the number of packages has more than doubled since than with
community involvement
odla, a lot of the dependency problems are fixed but caveat
emptor. :-)
why is fedora 7 this dodgy on gnome ffs
FWIW, I have not had any dependency problems with FC6.
Gnome is dodgy ...

Timing cached reads: 1076 MB in 2.00 seconds = 538.82 MB/sec
70 MB in 3.06 seconds = 22.89 MB/sec
How do i get my Makefile to produce .o files in a separate
folder
http://pastebin.ca/564207
and fedora is kde friendly ?
hmmk, why does my mouse and keyboard inputs stop responding
whenever beryl comes active
thanks a lot
thank eracc, du does the trick "du -chs /"
dammit, those disks are that slow? :/
Yes. Fedora includes KDE.
Mine is slow, or yours? Or both are?
well, mine feels very slow, yours shows about the same values
as mine, ergo both are
or my fs is screwed, but as i just installed f7 that might be a
little unusual
sometimes i have to login like 6 times or reboot a couple of
times before gnome works properly
:-)
s/gnome/beryl/
its beryl?
Your cached reads appear faster than my U160 SCSI disk e_.
/dev/sda:
512 MB in 2.00 seconds = 255.69 MB/sec
122 MB in 3.00 seconds = 40.65 MB/sec
oh
seems likely
Of course SCSI has a lot more going for it IMO. :-)
but than your buffered reads are about twice as fast
i dont think beryl makes the menubars not show up or keeps
the mouse from working properly
than=then
dammit
try starting with metacity and see if you have the same
issues
is there a way to browse livna online?
or could someone post that url?
thanks
same shit
fluxbox?
Oh, you poor soul.
http://www.fluxbox.org/
Minimalist window manager.
hm
FWIW, if you want "facny" crap then fluxbox is not for
you.
damn, i actually am gonna think linux is worse than
windows...
*fancy
well not really fancy, but smooth
so some beryl stuff is nice
Well, the 3D desktops are sweet if you have the hardware for
them.
mmhm
which i have
Maybe. :-p
if only it would work
meh i think 1.5gb ram, 512mb vga will suffice
What chipset?
ati
SHRIKEE, what's not working I haven't had any problem with
beryl on F7
ATI, ick!
If you have Nvidia or ATI cards, Fedora isn't going to be
your easiest choice...
so i see
Intel has the best support.
SHRIKEE, ahh ati is a PITA
buti got fglrx working... and xgl seems to work too
then i got beryl, and all went to shit
Livna has what you need, but apparently you're ignoring that
advice.
livna is stupid
Even then it won't work with your card, more than likely...
ATI's drivers don't support required features for AIGLX
next to core (what are we calling it now) livna is the best
repos I've worked with
erm. pebcak...
Livna is stupid? What?
Man, stick to Winblows, seriously...
the desktop box thing works
but no icons apear and left and right mouse buttons wont work
logitech mx510 mouse
are w32codecs or win32codecs available for fedora somewhere?
it looks like they aren't at livna
also the menubars remain empty
Yes, although I'd recommend getting gstreamer-ffmpeg
instead.
SHRIKEE: Man, stick to Winblows, seriously... -- wtf kinda help
is that
Livna
It's help for people like you.
i didn't see it at livna
...
SHRIKEE, that is the answer you get when you "dis" Linux.
;-)
people like me?
pfft morons
LOL
Idiots not willing to learn, yes
sure this idiot doesnt want to learn, but yet i am on linux and
have figured most of it out
SHRIKEE, may I PM you?
how can you tell im not willing to learn
i don't see it here http://rpm.livna.org:81/fedora/7/i386/
SURE
*sure
They are part of the mplayer package, afaik
"livna is stupid"
in my experience yes
In my experience, you're a moron
oh fuck you
i can has cheezburgr?
Have fun with Windows, have a good day.
no
less swearing in #fedora please....
insulting the efforts of other Fedora users (Livna
contributors in this case) is not a good way to solve
problems
shush you. i didnt start this fight
oh but you did
sure...
my my, this is turning out to be an interesting day on
#fedora
one big happy family .....
;
yyyyyyy
i suggest you watch you language or leave.
any gamers around?
i play the occasional card game when waiting for something to
finish... that any good?
ever use usb joysticks or gamepads?
Does anyone know why acpid is installed by the F7 installer?
It was for FC6. Any issues I should be aware of?
isn't installed
no never
neither are useful for cardgames
and in the dyas when i did use those sort of devices there was no
USB
ahh ic
im beginning to think there is no way to map the buttons (damn
controls are all backwards)
hmm. there may be an rc file somewhere in ~ or hidden subdirs
that maps buttons
i just came up with a funny linux joke. why does homeland
security love linux? so they can
locate /bin/laden
certainly thats how USB IR remotes function
you may be right
i mean tehres this program called joystick but i cant even
figure out how the hell to open it
for ubuntu but should be adaptable: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=338457
ty ill have a look
mmm...meatball sub
hello all
yes
rpm -ql joystick | grep bin -- shows a tool "jstest"... might
be a good place to start
If it's a USB joystick, lsusb and search for what Linux knows
about the device via google would also be a good idea...
Remember that Fedora's kernel isn't necessarily targeted at home
users...
ty lunitik
i mean it works fine its just very difficult to use since the
buttons arent assigned as what im used to.
Hello!
wouldnt be such a problem either if i could fine nes snes n64
and sega emulators that would actually show the pad config
window
zsnes does i think
i cant get the window to fully show though
i think the person that compiled it from source messed up as i
got all my emul from same place and theya re all like that
even tried running fceu in wine. it works but image is too
small
if I have a shared library on my system, libxyz.so, and I then
install a 3rd party rpm which includes a static library, libxyz.a,
which is completely unrelated (apart from the name) - is that
safe?
I'm pretty sure it is - the 3rd party rpm has some binaries
which are linked to the static lib. and anything which wants to use
the first lib will try to load it dynamically. but is there any
situation where it could all go horribly wrong?
idk it may overwrite it but thats just a guess
'yum remove blah' leaves config files, right?
Yes.
thanks
I was looking in the man page for a switch to purge config files
as well, but I didn't see anything.
Should there be no difference in functionality between
textmode and graphical install?
I'm in textmode and I'm trying to create a custom partition layout,
but the installer is hellbent on changing the partition numbers and
drives stuff is on. I guess I could drop to shell and use trust
fdisk..

If I'm trying to use yum to install CGI::Application, how
many chickens should I sacrifice before 'yum install
perl-CGI-Application' works?
It's not working yet, and I'm running low on chickens.
Use goats ...
eracc, They're out back, shortening the yard.
That's what I've always done, though #fedora may not
approve.
Like you, I could never figure out the naming convention
Blinny, Heh found out yesteryda that Term::ReadKey's yum is not
perl-Term-Readkey but perl-TermReadKey .. subtle, eh?
talexb, are you sure its available as a fedora rpm?
what version fedora? I don't see that package as an rpm.
talexb, yum list "perl-CGI*" doesn't list it for me
|DrJef|, not really, no .. I'm just a sucker for convenience,
that's all.
Yeah. Plenty of perl-CGI-* but not -Application
scampbell, FC6 ..
doesn't exist then.
Yeah, sorry guys, I did do a search before blabbing here on
IRC.
I thought maybe there was some weird spelling that I wasn't
aware of.
I can't install "perl-dowhatheckImean" either..... real bummer
that.
OK, thanks all, I'm off to run cpan from the command line.
Heh heh heh heh ..
talexb, you might even look at cpan2rpm
talexb, if you want to be able to roll your own local rpms of
what you suck from cpan
talexb, if you care about keep your perl stuff tracked in your
rpmdb
is there a package to install the kernel source?
if you just need to compile kernel modules .. the kernel-devel
package is enough
Hello all!
I am trying to get wireless working with a WEP key on F7
No wep key at all works just fine. But I have just moved to a
different office where they have a WEP key.
what wireless card ?
Intel
3945?
The hardware tab of the wireless config applet says Intel
Coproation Pro/Wireless
look into http://fedoramobile.org/Members/opsec/intel-ipw3945-on-fedora-7/
tessier__, you can know what card you have using lspci -v
output
Yeah, it's 3945
It works fine out of the box with no wep key or anything. Finds and
associates with the network automatically.
But now I need to set a key to get onto this
network.
system-config-network and edit.
specify the key there
I hope I don't really have to upgrade the driver and all that
stuff
Hey everyone. Quick question: will fedora 7 work with radeon X1k
series graphics cards?
define "work"
gui
not textual
3d acceleration
for beryl
I did.
Let me get you an error message...
Input/output error.
ATI's 3D drivers don't work on F7
oh, oh well
SET failed on device wlan0 ; invalid argument.
tessier__, can you see the interface in iwconfig ?
will it be able to run a gui? I tried one of the fedora 7
betas before, and it wouldn't even show gnome.
same with ubuntu
try the live CD
ok
Yes. wlan0 is listed
tessier__, iwlist scan wlan0 what it shows? does it shows the
ap ?
GNOME might work, but ATI's propietary 3D fglrx will not
work.
ok
as long as GNOME works, I'll be fine
tessier__, correct syntax is "iwlist wlan0 scan"
where does the command uname -r get its version information
from?
:P thanks
hmm-home, probably /proc
hmm ok
hmm-home, /proc/version ?
I think you're right
ah, lots of wireless related errors on the console. I just
googled and it looks like I have the same problem as this
guy:
http://papernapkin.org/pastebin/view/359
Lots of "can't stop dma" errors
the vmware installer is complaining about my kernel header
version
tessier__, i never got my laptop to get associated with a wep
based network with that iwl3945 driver had to use ipw3945
driver.
right now using it and it's working great.
hmm-home, ?? more info
The directory of kernel headers (version 2.6.20-1.2948.fc6debug)
does not match
your running kernel (version 2.6.20-1.2948.fc6)
I know the headers don't match but they are close
lol
nothing is close as it seems to be
hmm-home: like a hand grenade?
hmm-home, rpm -q kernel-devel
cause there is no package for the headers this kernel was
build with
close like a pregnancy test
i don't think so
how do i make a /usr/src/linux directory?
afeinberg, yum install kernel-devel
symlink it to your kernel-devel
aah
bah I have to reboot
right, but i want /usr/src/linux to always link to the most
current kernel
sourcd
*source
afeinberg, what are you attempting to do
what's the file "SHA1SUM" for?
uh... make a script that runs on startup that takes the
output of uname -r and creates a symlink?
ponchato, man sha1sum
ponchato, that's the SHA1 hash of the download, used to
verify file integrity.
i want to make a /usr/src/linux directory that is always linked
to the most current kernel source
ok, but how do you use it to verify the iso?
afeinberg, ^ see above ^
ok
sha1sum iso
ponchato, run "sha1sum download name" and compare the values you
get to the values in that file.
ok
afeinberg, so just make sure you have the kernel-devel
and what might that script look like?
afeinberg, you dont need a script
well there is no kernel-devel package for the kernel I have
installed
hmm-home, because why
I installed the livna radeon driver which installed its own
kernel
the one that takes the output of uname-r and creates a
symlink
haha
sigh...
afeinberg, are you insane ?
i dont see any kernels in the the livna repo
so who want to take this one?
you been told to install kernel-devel and it will do the
job
there aren't any
it didn't
why would there be?
hmm-home, learn some linux
because some uneducated user says so?
I installed the livna radeon driver which installed its own
kernel
they're right there. beside the DONKEYS
lol
hello. i'm going to bug ATI for a driver update, what
detailed information would be good to put in as
details?
hmm-home: uname -a .. paste the output here
uname -r returns the version of kernel that you are running.
it might not be the latest one. afeinberg
Hey there Andrew.
Oh, Ari. Wrong afeinberg. :P
Sorry
elZip, the specifics on how you intend to cause them physical
harm
heheh
I think this driver isn't going to work and I don't have time
here to fix it. I just found a wired connection. Thanks for your
help.
thanks for the help, see you guys later
you can blow up ATI but leave AMD side of the plant
alone
ferrum what would u say to them?
elZip, I use intel specifically so that I don't have to deal
with them
amd's are just as cheap as ati ..
a match made in heaven
i'm getting neged out i only had this card a few weeks
ferrum, i love all my AMd machines
amd + ati == white trash dream machine
Southern_Gentle, I have no issues with AMD, I mean Intel
graphics
+m
AMd+ nvidia linux users dream
intel was cheaper
express your dissatisfaction with AMD's lack of support for
modern distros and end users in OSS. Also mention their ignorance
toward upstream developers
intel graphics are getting better
coolbreeze, AMD just decided to pump resources into
developing the linux version, iirc.
ferrum, ati promised to support aiglx before f7 was released
but you see how far that went
i know, but that doesn't mean they should ignore
everyone
will do, anything else i can throw in
elZip, goatse
do you use a branded laptop/desktop? (dell, hp, compaq,
etc)?
They are a corporation, after all. I suppose I should get used
to the fact that they just throw around nice words.
no
honey catches more flies than vinager
so a discrete video card?
so does flypaper
hot spaghetti attracts ticks more quickly than a wet
noodle.
can you imagine the guy sitting there reading all the
feedback
discrette as in?
a bird in the hand...
how many people write you sux, your products sux blah blah
blah
Southern_Gentlem is right, don't have your message to ATi make
you sound like a maniac
you're suggesting we write "thank you" notes?
my grandmother does this ;_;
no i am suggesting clear concise sentence and paragraphs
Oh, hey thanks so much for offering a Linux version!!
Unfortunately, it's missing several features that we ordinarily
would take for granted..
as in 'add-in' video card
Aha that works too.
yeah, like, "thank you for not making my hardware work"
that's actually good...
mock, or i am sorry but my hardware almost worked with your
product
lol
i you come off as ' ZOMGBBQ j00 sux0r!!!11..." it'll land in
the trash
so i could get my work done.'
you should find a way to get amnesty to take up your cause
all those busy letter writers

henshaw, basicly act like someone with intellegence instead

bhenshaw, basicly act like someone with intellegence instead of

yeah its a PCIe
mock, you can reverse-engineer the windows driver
s/you/someone else
whoever does the fedorafaq.org needs to do a new one for f7
!
ok. email the card manufacturer as well
maelstrom, and?
maelstrom, everything should still be relevant
my day job gets in the way
...that an my low skillz value
maelstrom, it took him to feb to get up to fc6
Overall Fedora 7 is pretty darn good. Check out this blog entry:
http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-Uv7PHgY_arLKInjWvgT5?p=76
Go Fedora!
http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,2142494,00.asp
i am enjoying F7 after finally getting it installed after a
lengthy struggle
what does an obscure blog prove?
fsck, a woman uses our code
HELL YES!
beyond that I'm not sure :/
my girlfriend uses fedora when she's at my house, does that
count
Anyone with a branded system should post at http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/Category:OEMs
"Linux-Fedora core 7 is exactly Hamburger without cheese."
this should be our new slogan
lol
CHEEZBURGR
that blog may have well been written by a 10 year old
coolbreeze, for what
hm?
It was written by my fiance.
She is new to english, cut her some slack.
great
hooray for mail order brides!
fsck, ok enough
Actually she isn't.
nah, i think he's just using the hot asian girlfriend option on
emacs 22
tessier__, she writes like my mother, who's been in America
for about thirty years
Exactly!
That was an awesome thread.
dude!
heh
my car is missing
yeah, that's what happens when you learn english as an adult
and not as a kid so you speak it like a native.
man I read too much slashdot to know what you guys are
talking about
uman I read too much slashdot to know what you guys are talking

ok
mind hairy moles?
has anybody got a hauppauge tv tuner working in their fedora
system ?
how about sentient hairy moles...
tessier__, yeah, it's been a pretty popular joke in my
office
maelstrom, those are the only tv cards i have seen anyone get
working for mythTV
coolbreeze,
http://www.videogamesprites.net/Earthbound/Bosses/2%20-%20Mondo%20Mole.gif
i don't care .. my point is there are about 85% mindless users
.. the rest actually know a few things and can help
Since she already has her BA she is just about to enroll in
the MBA program at San Diego State Univ. Hopefully her writing will
improve then.
fsck, shouldn't those people be using Ubuntu?
Yeah, I need to find a way to capitalize on it
myself.
the problem is a guess .. no one wants help.. they might lose
their "power"
i have heard a lot about mythtv but never actually looked
into it... is that what i will need to use to make use of my new tv
tuner ?
afraid so
tessier__, well, one of our salesman already has the hot 5"4
asian wife ;P
isn't mythtv on livna too?
nope
we wished
we already used up all our wishes :[
ok time to go back to building the cluster bbl
is the a tutorial out on how to get video thumbnails to
work?
I have video thumbnails for .ogg..
If Sun released Java under GPL2 why doesn't it come with F7
and the java support just work out of the box with
firefox?
tessier__, it hasn't been fully released under the GPL2. Just
like with OpenSolaris, SUN released the majority of things but kept
the important bits.
Ah, I see. I suspected as much. Sneaky bastards.
Currently being reverse-engineered.
But it infringes upon some patents... so we'll see.
and much of the stuff which _was_ released was released far too
late for f7
afaik sun released all their code under gpl2
problem is, they dont hold the copyright for all the code, so
they cant release the whole shebang as gpl2
BULLE, some font rendering stuff. Without it, the code isn't
useful.
java2d and some other stuff yes
hi
does anyone know the kde-redhat project here ?
i know what it is yes
havent used it for quite some time though
ca someone help me please when i want to log on to my server as
root it says my session only lasted 10 seconds and something about
my Xsession please point me in the right direction
its impossible to say whats wrong with that vague error
description
k doing reboot will tell you the exact error now thx
ifnotwhynot, wait
why?
ifnotwhynot, because you need to reverse the polarity of
/dev/null
ifnotwhynot, you're trying to log in as root into X?
sorry you lost me
uh... you're trying to log in to gnome? the graphical thing?
non-command-line?
yes
you should never do that.
is there anyway i can disable starting knome?
why would you ever want to? you can log in as a regular user,
open a terminal, and use the "su -" command to become root.
kde+gnome = knome
MythTV has a number of capabilities. The television portion
allows you to do the following: * You may pause, fast-forward and
rewind live Television.
yep
i can't wait to be able to fast forward live television
I might get a tv-tuner card :o
I haven't watched TV in nearly two years. :/
i can not log on to the sever through knome
ifnotwhynot, try logging in as a _regular user_, and let us
know the error message.
maybe windows vista is what you need.
the tv-tuner card with the temporal chipset
i only have one user root
ifnotwhynot, why didn't you add another user during
install?
i am a first time user i am the only one using the
server
"the" sever?
i can log on and get a shell using failsave terminal
or just hit ctrl+alt+F1
you are a genuis BULLE
how do i disable kde load and load straigt to shell?
ifnotwhynot, in grub press "a" to edit the kernel arguments,
and add a "3" to the end. Then press enter.
old members warehouse 15 min .... it's a walk off...
sorry gweeeeeeessshhhhhhhhhh you right over my head i do not
comply ?????????????
what is grub?
http://linuxdansmonpc.is-a-geek.com/distribution/fedora_core_5/captures/capture_031.jpg
this is grub
sed -i 's/^id:5/id:3/' /etc/inittab
http://fedorasolved.org/post-install-solutions/runlevel/
it is the first thing that's displayed when you turn your
computer on.
oh hey, thanks wolsni
are you all permanent linux users?
i am currently an exclusive linux user
same
not sure it'll stay that way forever
i have used only linux for 10+ years
this is what i call a support channel the best ever all you
people rule, if this is the quality of support i will change to
linux no problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
i haven't seen windows booted in about 6 years
Your excessive punctuation is unsettling.
you'll probably die in a messy car accident first
ifnotwhynot, linux support is very good. there's also
www.fedorasolved.org
i added the 3 boots to kde login still
ifnotwhynot, impossible, it can't.
did you add a space before the "3" ?
ro root=LABEL=/ rhgb quiet 3
^ should look like that
didnt ad the space
sed -i 's/^id:5/id:3/' /etc/inittab is this a permanent
fix?
yes
but you need to run that as root.
ferrum is my new favorite persom ever
:/
person sorry all you people are great
thx for the help #fedora rules
good luck
thx
so it would be $ su -c "sed -i 's/^id:5/id:3/'
/etc/inittab"
wolsni, he only has the root user
ah
fantastic
is it good practise to set up more users on install?
sorry my spelling sucks
i would say so yes, atleast one more
k
no difference between using the installer to add users and using
system-config-users to do it later though
he'd have to use "adduser" and set up the home directory
manually from the skel, since he can't get graphical login to work
as root.
also you can useradd ifnotwhynot
oh right
ferrum, this will ndo the job completely from bash
yep
shutdown now -r
lol thats not going to work if I am on the wrong
keyboard
been a long day
you can also just type "reboot"
i keep using the wrong keyboard too
or init 1
or ctrl-alt-del
i am going to spend all my spare time on this channel i just
know i going to learn a lot, if you have any windows questions i am
your ma
you know windows API?
yip
ho ho! perhaps I'll have some in the future
fare to medium fare
I know windows script host
hehe
just vbscript though no jscript

init 6 is reboot

hello
hodges, check line 5 of /usr/share/yumex/yumex
I can't figure out why DNS is failing on this old fc4
box
facefaceface, bind or dns resolution?
ferrum, how can I find out?
ip resolution part (using an external DNS server)?

my router works as the DNS server for two boxes, one 'works'
and the other box cant access the internet
cat /etc/resolv.conf
nameserver 192.168.1.1
i.e. my router
i thought pyc files were plaintext, do I need IDLE to open
it?
facefaceface, iptables, i suppose
ferrum, its identical on the box that 'works'
you can ping the router?
guzu, how so?
ferrum, yup
pyc are compiled, py are source code
guzu, I obtain my IP from the router (DHCP) correctly
facefaceface, are you doing masquerading?
guzu, now there is a question... er... I don't know
oops,what router? a hardware device?
so I should look at line 5 of yumex.py instead?
two boxes connected to a router yup
hodges, yes
oh, that is strange then
cheers
the router is then wirelessly connected to another router
which is connected to a DSL
it's a comment
unless python doesn't start from the top or some weird s
hit
the weird thing is that nmap 192.168.1.* dosn't show the
other box on the network... but i *can* ssh to that
box!
facefaceface, the router is working fine? if you switch the
cables on router, did the failure stay on fc4?
guzu, switch the cables ... right!
guzu, both boxes are fc4 iirc
back soon... I hope
whatever
hodges, what's the line beneath?
woo hoo finally got my sound issue fixed in F7
OK... can you hear me
lol
is there sounds for Xchat?
Socialoutcast, don't speak so loud!
Socialoutcast, you can configure them if you want
I use pidgin personally :/
pidgin?

so how come I can ssh onto a box that nmap dosn't see?
with the "you can't add yourself to your own buddy list" and
every time I hit enter it added an extra line
(in both directions)
facefaceface, perhaps the box is rejecting ping?
facefaceface, #nmap -P0 ip
i would have pasted the whole file but I can't find a "select
all" button, what's a good general purpose editor? I like notepad++
for windows not sure if it has a port for linux
ok
no 'sux', 'shit', 'fuck', etc. please.
nmap -sP -P0 192.168.1.0/24
wait
no
haha
I wonder what that does o_O
nmap 192.168.1.121 -P0 -p 22
why the fuck can't I say that shit? that fucking sucks
hodges, this is a support channel, kids might be
present.
hodges, because I am your grandmother
kate is pretty nice
hodges, have you seen topic?
because if you insist the bastard op will get you op
I killed my grandmother
s/you op/you out/
-_-
she's cursing more than I am
Hi there - how can I prevent a kernel module from being
loaded at startup?
hello AndyCap
I mean Anvil
why can she say bastard and I can't say sucks? sucks isn't a
curse
/etc/modprobe.d/blacklist
it's a opening for a troll.
Argh, could have been so easy... thx!
you l ive under a bridge or something?
hodges, you pick fights over the Internet?
both stop now
naw I pick fights in bars
our intern had her windows box run the system updates, auto
reboot, and when it comes up, it's ubuntu. that's what i call
progress from ms.
that doesn't make any sense
or security update
you sure somebody didn't leave a livecd in there?
hodges, *sigh*
i think she has to choose when she starts the box to boot
windows
which files should I check for netowrk problems?
I even tried rebooting!
facefaceface, can you ping google?
how can I test DNS on my flaky client?
209.85.165.103
OMG!
it just started workign!
so http://pastebin.ca/564769 which
line is interpreted as line 5? the true line5 is a comment
well hooray :3
magic!
wait...
(wrong box)
hodges, import gtk,gobject
ping www.google.com|connect: Network is unreachable
so what's that mean?
sudo /sbin/service network restart | dosn't help
no default route.
What says route -n
hodges, it fails to load gtk.
hodges, what theme are you using?
kde
doh
i feel dumb
if the configure is bad, reloading it wont help at all.
OK, I have a strange entry in Destination .. I think
Anvil, will run 'network config' (again)
so will yumex run from kde after I install gnome?
try to set the gateway this time
Anvil, ahhh... gotcha
*default route*.
each network must have a route to be reachable.
yes, you can run gtk programs in KDE
and kde programs in Gnome
hrm... how do I set that (FC4)
do i need to install gnome or just the development kit?
system-config-network.
Add
facefaceface, paste your route -n into rafb.net/paste
please
FC4 is end of life.
not roots. routes. And the default gateway is set in the
interface configuration.
hodges, yum install pygtk2
Anvil, sorry, I need to get back to my roots
that should pull in all needed dependencies
..I hope
yum is awesome
guzu, http://pastebin.ca/564790
looks like you need a gateway after all
you can also check route -n on the computer wich has
connectivity
ahhh...
it's strange that the dhcpd is notproviding this info
I wonder if the entries in the (greyed out) static ip section
are causing problems...
okay this is silly cdrecord is failing for me with an error
concerning Cannot get mmap for 4198400 Bytes on /dev/zero
but if i run it as root.. it works
fc6
wtf
previously it was complaining about 'unknown host
www.google.com' but then it got worse
what is IPsec?
Complete shot in the dark: selinux?
VPN software. You probably don't use it.
Blinny, nothing in the logs
nope I don't
Blinny may have a point here
how do I ensure selelux is off?
guzu, just one last user to help... ;-)
facefaceface, set it to "permissive" in
system-config-securitylevel
ferrum I don't have that option (FC4)
I don't knwo where to set the gateway
neither do I, actually :/
I remember setting it many times.. in install actually
man route
route add default gw 192.168.1.1 or whatever
probably .0
its the 'whatever' bit that is tricky ;-)
/etc/sysconfig/selinux, set SELINUX=disabled
http://pastebin.ca/564810 doesn't
look like it installed?
ty SirThomas
ok ferrum, I will try to set it up like othe box.
consider upgrading
gateway can be set by editing /etc/sysconfig/network. set
GATEWAY=x.x.x.x
ferrum, yeah... once this box is 'up', I will upgrade
both
Gateways are in /etc damnit SirThomas you beatme
lol
oh! lovely
bbl
gotta go mop!
http://pastebin.ca/564810 doesn't
look like it installed?
nothing to do
so does that mean it's installed already?
hm, thought someone had a trigger on that
hodges, rpm -q pygtk2
pygtk2-2.10.4-2.fc7
there you go
hrm
so yumex won't run because i'm missing something that's not
missing
I did a clean install of Fedora 7. When I log in using KDE I
have no problems, but when I try using gnome, I can't always.
Sometimes just my background and a cursor come up, and sometimes a
blank gnome-panel shows as well. When I AM able to use gnome, I
have to restart the X server a couple times (ctrl+alt+bksp) before
everything shows. When I try to restart the computer, it will close
the gnome-panel and then just sit until I log in
