Ife, Mate - I've "converted" some folks over - and have converted over the servers I have to take care of - and I'd LOVE to make my entire living from just linux, but, alas, I have to remain realistic about the whole thing. I stand to make more chasing viruses and re-installing Windows than I would by installing linux 24/7. Hate to say it, but I have to be realistic.

My missus does, but only because she does eBay and programs Access/VB databases. I end up fixing that machine WAY too much for my comfort level. That's bad enough. If I can't run linux, I don't want to use a computer.

well my main comp is xp, just cause it was given to me, and because of the games I like to play every so often.. but my other 3 computer run fedora, soon to be a cluster after today when I goto pick up a roomful of computers and computer parts.. damn my electric bill will sky rocket but having a full blown cluster in my basement will just be plain cool... imo
well as my bread and butter comes from rhel and secure linux web hosting and such I can't say I'd be able to immediately jump ship if that deal went through but, to me I think I'd be looking a lot more out that window

Last time I worked on a cluster it was an IBM setup - running Tivoli - running this HUGE monster program for Fritolay/PepsiCo in Plano, Tx. Was great. Was really fun mucking around on it - aside from just doing basic maint.

The reason I ask is because if the LiveCD picks up yer mouse and yer monitor, you can make a copy of the xorg.conf and compare them to the existing one to figure out the best settings...done it before myself here.

At least I set the option in mouse properties that shows me where the pointer is when I pres the control key... I will have to check and see if I have installed it this time...

boogerhead, What I'm trying to get at is that I think that the mode settings for the monitor are causing the problems with the mouse - now don't quote me on that, but it seems quite strange. Something else to think about - and this is far out there - is to get into the BIOS of the machine and check to see if you have the USB legacy keyboard/mouse set to YES - that sometimes makes a difference...

then you almost certainly already are using the open driver
